Rolex Milgauss Tropical Honeycomb Dial 6541

Brand: Vintage Rolex
Model: 6541
Year: 1958
Serial number: 41xxxx
Reference: OT1060

In 1954, launched the Milgauss, reference 6541. Case designed with a secondary, soft iron cage within that surrounded the caliber 1066M to shield it from magnetic forces of up to 1000 Gauss. The most prominent feature of the reference 6541 Milgauss is its unusual and delightful seconds hand in the shape of a lightning bolt. Other distinguishing features include a rotating bezel with a red-colored triangle and a honeycomb-patterned dial with non-luminous, circular hour markers and faceted, triangular hour markers at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock. The present example, manufactured in 1958, features a dial that has aged to a beautiful and uniform, so-called ‘tropical’ brown color, and includes all of its original parts and extremely well preserved case with sharp lines and beveled edges. The same model reference has been auctioned at Phillips May 2023 for CHF2,238,000. A superb example of this highly coveted reference.

Case: Show sign of wear with some polishing from previous and inner case back stamped IV 1958; the outer case back has engraved the name “Charles Sheffield”

Dial: Aged Super Glossy Tropical Gilt Honeycomb Dial where there are some oxidation throughout the dial along with matching hands; the index has turned into a very warm orange pumpkin color giving it a very aged vintage look. In addition, the side minute track part of the gilt material has peeled off and shown the base of the silver color. Please find photo #7 – #10 in daylight photos
